Past and Long-term Projections of Precipitation, Drought Events and Extreme Temperature Using a Statistical Downscaling Model (SDSM) Approach in the Republic of Djibouti

To address the lack of daily rainfall data recorded in the Republic of Djibouti—crucial for applying statistical downscaling to GCM projections—this study evaluated nine very high-resolution satellite-derived rainfall datasets. The performance of these remotely sensed precipitation products was directly assessed by comparing them to rain gauge measurements at Djibouti airport station. This evaluation incorporated seven different continuous and categorical metrics on a daily timescale.
